Day 4

You know it’s deep into the trip when the tan lines start to set in. Tan lines from your shoes, on your hands from the gloves, on your arms… everywhere imaginable. I think it works with my fashion sense though.
I got to experience a little bit of everything today, not only with biking but with things like negotiation skills and all-terrain traveling. I encountered a road block today in the middle of nowhere and used my incredible charm (I actually looked like a zombie who had only eaten a protein bar that day) to get my way across, because there was no way I was biking more than I had to just to cross a distance that I could throw a baseball across (and I don’t even have a good arm). That was one unique thing about today. The other one occurred when trying to get onto the Abandoned PA turnpike. After going up a gravel road, crossing into the woods, taking my gear off my bike, throwing it over a fence, placing my bike over that fence, and hopping over I managed to weave my way to this dilapidated, Walking-Dead-looking highway. The most interesting part were the tunnels. Imagine the tunnels you encounter on a regular basis, but with no light except for a faint oval on the ground 2 feet in front of you and debris which you have to dodge so you don’t get a flat tire in the middle of this pitch-black passageway. Also, imagine that but you always feel like someone from outside of the light is going to jump out and get you. *shivers*
Besides those two interesting ecounters it was a normal day of hill climbing, hill riding, repeat. I’m getting better with dealing with going slow but I waved to a cow today so something must be getting to me.
Tomorrow should be an alright day, I get to look forward to *Heavenly light shines forth and a chorus of angels sing* THE TRAIL. I hope it is as good as I imagine it.
Also, I have FIVE bars where I am today. Now that is what I call luxury.
